Kushal Tanwar’s Age and Date of Birth
Gullu Kushal Tanwar Age: How old is he?
Gullu aka Kushal Tanwar is listed as 27 in 2026. His exact date of birth has not been publicly confirmed, so an exact birthday-based age calculation is not possible. The phrase “kushal tanwar age date of birth” refers to that distinction: an age is reported, but no precise birth date is established.
Kushal Tanwar’s Early Life and Education
Tanwar was born and raised in Gurugram, Haryana. His early life in the city preceded a period of formal study in Pune, where he pursued hotel management. He completed a Bachelor of Science degree at the Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology in Pune in 2022. The course gave him an academic route into hospitality before television and online content became central to his public profile.
His work before appearing regularly on reality television included jobs as a chef, a hospitality employee and an event manager. Each role sat within the service and events world: kitchen work, guest-facing hospitality and the coordination of occasions. He later co-founded a café in Gurugram, adding a business venture to his experience in the sector. These early jobs and the café belong to the period before his best-known televised competitions.
At the same time, videos on social media helped him find viewers beyond his immediate surroundings. His online presence developed before he became a familiar face in reality-show casts. The nickname Gullu, and the variation Gullu Boxer, became part of the identity audiences encountered alongside his full name. His later television appearances widened that recognition, while his Instagram account continued to provide a direct outlet for his content.
Kushal Tanwar’s Career
Tanwar’s first documented Roadies audition came in 2019, before he returned to the franchise as a contestant and ultimately won its twentieth season. He then joined the cast of Splitsvilla, where he competed with Kaira Anu, and entered Bigg Boss in 2026. These appearances put him in three distinct MTV and Colors reality formats, each built around a different kind of competition and group dynamic.
Roadies audition and Roadies XX: Double Cross
Roadies is an MTV India reality competition that began in 2003. Its long-running format brings prospective contestants through auditions before selected participants face physical challenges, strategic decisions and shifting team dynamics. The series has changed its hosts and gang leaders over time, while retaining the combination of competition tasks and cast rivalries that defines its episodes. MTV Roadies XX: Double Cross was the franchise’s twentieth season and placed Kushal Tanwar in the competition after his earlier attempt to join the show.
In 2019, he auditioned in a costume styled as a fake sheikh. He did not make the cast that year. The audition became an early chapter in his connection with the franchise, but it was several years before he returned and entered the competition proper. For his later appearance, the format offered a very different test from a single audition: contestants had to perform across a season, respond to changing team arrangements and survive elimination decisions.
In MTV Roadies XX: Double Cross, Tanwar joined Elvish Yadav’s gang. Gang affiliations shaped the contestants’ relationships and their route through the season, though they did not ensure that a competitor would stay in the game. Tanwar’s own path included a reversal when his teammates eliminated him. He later came back as a wildcard, re-entering the contest and joining Gautam Gulati’s gang. The return placed him back among the competing contestants after he had already experienced elimination.
The franchise’s tasks and team structure continued to shape his run after his return. He won a ticket to the finale and received the option to change gangs. Rather than remain with the team he had joined as a wildcard, he chose to return to Yadav’s team. That decision brought his two gang affiliations together in the story of his season: he had first competed with Yadav’s group, moved to Gulati’s gang after his wildcard return, and then selected Yadav’s team again before the final contest.
The finale came down to a timed task. Tanwar completed it in 1 minute and 16 seconds, finishing ahead of Hartaaj Singh Gill, whose time was 1 minute and 48 seconds. The gap between their recorded times settled the contest. Kushal Tanwar received the Roadies trophy, Rs 10 lakh and a Hero Karizma motorcycle. The win was his first reality-show victory, following the unsuccessful audition in 2019 and the elimination-and-return sequence during the season.
MTV Splitsvilla X6: Pyaar Ya Paisa
After Roadies, Tanwar competed in MTV Splitsvilla X6: Pyaar Ya Paisa, the sixth edition of the MTV dating reality series. Splitsvilla first aired in 2008 and follows a group of young contestants as they form connections, face relationship choices and compete in tasks. The show’s title reflects its focus on attraction and the decisions contestants make while living and competing together. Across its editions, MTV has presented it as a relationship-led competition rather than a test based solely on speed or physical performance.
Sunny Leone and Karan Kundrra hosted this season. The title Pyaar Ya Paisa set out a choice between love and money, and the season used audience voting for finalists. The voting element placed viewers in the process of deciding which couples would reach the final stage. It also sat alongside the contestants’ own relationships and the competition between pairs, so the route to the end involved both the connections formed inside the show and the audience’s response.
Tanwar partnered with Kaira Anu. Their progress took them through the season as a pair, with the relationship and competition developing side by side. They reached the final along with three other pairs: Yogesh Rawat and Ruru Thakur, Sorab Bedi and Niharika Tiwari, and Soundarya Shetty and Tayne De Villiers. The final therefore brought four partnerships together rather than narrowing the contest to a single couple before the last stage.
Tanwar and Anu won MTV Splitsvilla X6: Pyaar Ya Paisa and its Rs 20 lakh prize. After the result, he credited Anu’s support during their time on the show. Their victory followed his Roadies win and gave him a second reality competition title. The programme’s pairing format also made the result a joint achievement: Anu competed alongside him through the season, and the two received the win together.
Maa Hai Na
Kushal Tanwar also appeared on Maa Hai Na with his mother, Munesh Tanwar. The programme was a reality show built around the mother-and-son pair, a format that brought a family relationship into the televised competition space. It differed from his appearances on Roadies and Splitsvilla, where he competed among a wider group of contestants, and from Bigg Boss, where the central setting is a shared house of individual housemates.
A Oneindia biography says the pair won Maa Hai Na in 2026. The result added a family-based reality-show victory to Tanwar’s record. His mother’s appearance with him also connects the programme to the personal life he discussed later during Bigg Boss 20, though Maa Hai Na remains the television project on which they competed together.
Bigg Boss 20
In September 2026, Tanwar entered Bigg Boss 20, the Hindi reality series hosted by Salman Khan. Bigg Boss is the Indian edition of the Big Brother format, in which contestants live together in a house while cameras record their interactions. Tasks, nominations and evictions shape the competition, while conversations and disagreements among the housemates become part of the season’s daily story. The show’s cast includes contestants from different areas of public life, and Kushal Tanwar arrived after winning two MTV reality competitions.
Bigg Boss 20 premiered on Colors TV and JioHotstar on September 6, 2026. The season introduced a “Tathas-two” format in which contestants had two lives. A life could be lost through eviction or certain game twists. That rule became part of the structure the housemates had to navigate, alongside the usual pressures of living in close quarters and competing through the show’s tasks and decisions.
Tanwar’s time in the house included conflicts with fellow contestants. He was involved in a physical altercation with Nakul Dhull, who was ejected after an incident with him, according to the season’s housemate notes. On October 30, 2026, The Times of India reported that Tanwar physically attacked rapper Yung DSA during another dispute in the house. These incidents became part of the season’s coverage of his conduct among the housemates.
Recent Developments
Bigg Boss 20 continued to feature Tanwar in October 2026. The October 30 report on the dispute with Yung DSA brought attention to his involvement in the house conflict during that period. His appearance on the programme followed the two reality-show wins that had established him as a competition veteran among the contestants.
Personal Life
Kushal Tanwar has spoken about being married and divorced during his time on Bigg Boss 20, according to a September 2026 News18 headline. The subject entered public discussion through his comments on the show, where personal experiences formed part of his conversations with fellow contestants. His mother, Munesh Tanwar, also appeared with him on Maa Hai Na, the reality programme they won in 2026.
